Today I am going to share the recipe of Sambaram or Spiced buttermilk. I am sure spiced buttermilk is something made in every home very often. In Kerala, during the humid and hot days, when ever some one comes home during the day time, Sambaram is the first thing that may be offered to them. A very light and refreshing drink that perks up one instantly.
I used to dislike curd or yoghurt during my childhood. My mom tried all possible ways of making me eat it. but failed miserably. One hot day, returning from school I stopped at my friend's place and my friend's grand mom seeing us coming sweating, tired and thirsty, she got us some Sambaram. I hesitated a bit. I disliked anything associated with yoghurt. But I couldnt say so outright to my friend's grand mom. Very slowly I took a sip and you wouldnt believe I couldnt stop drinking it. Finished the glass in two seconds I would say. It was such a refreshing and cooling drink. That was the first time I had Sambaram and absolutely loved it. I cant think of another drink which refreshed me so much.
I am sending the recipe to Jagruti's "Celebrate Summer" Blog event hosted by Nivedhanam.
Also sending the recipe to "Healthy Food for Healthy kids - Juices, Milkshakes and Icecream" event hosted at Nithu's Kitchen. You can find the host line up for the event here.

I would say to enjoy the buttermilk, you should drink it when you are tired and extremely thirsty and that would be the time when you get to appreciate the drink more.
