Masala Idli

Tired of having plain old idli for Break fast? Try out the Masala Idlis. Thinking how to finish the left over idlis? Try making yummy Masala Idlis. I love idlis and during my childhood, used to have only idlis for break fast. Another reason for having idlis for break fast is that it is very easy to swallow it and run out of the home where dad is waiting outside the home to drop me to the school/ college bus stop :)  :) These days I have cornflakes, bread, oats or other smoothies for break fast. Chose them due of the ease in making them definitely. But still miss my idli days. Occasionally I make idlis for dinner and then make enough of them to have for break fast as well. And for a variety, I make masala idlis. Easy to make, over in a jiffy and tastes delicious...

My mom makes very soft and fluffy idlis. Used to finish 4 or 5 of them in a go. The first time when we ordered idlis outside Kerala, we were very surprised to find that they served only 2 idlis to each of us. but the thickness of those two were equivalent to 5 - 6  idlis :) I described how I made Masala idlis to my mother today over phone and she said she is drooling now. She is very surprised to find that I am cooking decently these days. She havnt had the fortune of enjoying the dishes that I make and blog. Now a days she keeps asking me to prepare what ever dishes I tell that I made when I come home next for vacation. Of course she knows that will not happen. If I am staying at home, I am like behind Amma always telling,  Amma, I want Dosa and no ghee please. Amma, I want Appam with stew. I want cabbage and sambar today. The demands are endless :) Even now when I wake up in the morning and then start thinking about what to make for break fast, lunch, dinner, I wish I was at home where my parents pamper a lot and try to feed as much as possible. Nothing to worry about and no cooking. Dont get me wrong.. I love cooking and blogging my successful dishes. But I hate planning every day cooking :(

Coming to the Masala Idlis, it makes a good variation from the regular idlis. And the best part I think is you dont need to prepare any chutney to go along with it. Simple and Very very easy to make, I love this recipe. Do check it out.
