I am always in the look out for light healthy tea time snacks. My hubby, as soon as he comes from the office starts searching in the kitchen and munches on some snacks or the other. When he is extremely hungry, he doesn't like to eat fruits or most of the healthy snacks that I suggest :). So I was trying to find some easy and healthy snacks that can be made at home and stored for a while. Then I remembered a snack made with Puffed rice (Also called Murmura or Pori or Bhel) that one of my friends used to make and bring to office. A light and tasty snack... I improvised it and made a snack with the ingredients that I like.
Ingredients:
2 cups Puffed rice
6 - 8 crushed Garlic cloves
3 - 4 Curry leaves
1/4 Roasted Peanuts or Ground nuts
1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric
1/2 Teaspoon Chilly Powder
1/4 Teaspoon hing or Asfoetida
Salt
1 Teaspoon Oil
Prepping: ( 3 -4 min)
Roast Peanuts in a pan for 3 - 4 minutes and keep aside.
Method of Preparing: ( 5 - 7 min)
Step 1:
Heat oil in a pan and when the oil becomes hot, add peanuts and garlic and fry for 2 minutes.
Step 2:
Now lower the flame and add curry leaves and stir for 1 minute.
Step 3:
Add turmeric, chilly powder, hing or asfoetida and salt and stir well.
Step 4:
Add puffed rice or pori or bhel and mix well.
Switch off when the puffed rice becomes crispy and store in an air tight container.
This snack is low in calories and makes you feel full. Also it hardly takes any time to prepare this snack and it can be stored in an air tight container for weeks.
Note: You can add sev or any other ingredients that you feel suitable as well.
