Oats Masala Pancakes

Today I prepared Oats Masala Pancakes for dinner. These pancakes can be had as a healthy break fast item or evening snack or dinner. It is yummy, filling and also very easy to make.
We have got into a routine these days preparing an item for dinner with oats atleast once in two weeks. The first time I prepared these pancakes, I refused to tell my hubby what these were made of and asked him to guess after tasting. He gave answers ranging from besan to most other varieties of flour commonly used in our house hold and couldnt imagine that these were made from oats!!!  I guess that its ideal for all those (kids and adults) who hate oats :) Do try this out as a healthy snack for kids and let me know if they like the dish. I am sure they will !!!

2 cup Quaker Oats
1 onion
1 Tomato
1/2 of a Green Chilli
Few chopped Coriander Leaves
1/2 Tbsp Turmeric
1 Tbsp Garam Masala
1/2 Tbsp Chilli Powder

Step 1: Grind the Oats to a smooth powder using blender / mixie.

Step 2: Slice onions, green chilly and tomato to very small pieces.
Step 3: In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients and mix well.

Make a batter by adding water. The batter should be of thick consistency.

Note: We like a lot of tomato and onions in my pancakes and have used 1 whole onion and tomato. You can reduce the quantity of onion and tomato as per your preference.

Method of Preparing:

Step 1:

Heat a non stick pan or Tawa. Grease the pan with little oil using a tissue or cloth.

Step 2:

Pour a ladle full of batter into the Tawa after removing the Tawa from the flame. Spread the batter. Return the Tawa to the flame.

Step 3:
Maintain medium heat on the stove. Cook till one side is done. This will take around 3 - 5 min. Do not increase the flame as the lower side may get burnt before the upper side is done.
Once the upper side is done, Turn over to the other side. Once both sides are cooked, take it out.

Step 4:

Repeat steps 1 to 3 till the batter is over. Makes around 6 - 8 pancakes. It is tasty enough to have it simply like that by the way :) Serve hot with green chutney or tomato sauce if you like. Enjoy :)
